Last July Richard and I took a long drive in Persephone, our camper van, through Rocky Mount, N.C.; Fredericksburg, Va.; Parkesburg, Pa.; Guilford, Conn.; Cape Cod, Mass.; Niagara Falls, N.Y.; E. Lansing, Mich., Helena, Ohio; and all sorts of points in between. We visited numerous long-lost first cousins and friends, attended a memorial service, and camped overnight in kind strangers’ driveways, state parks, parking lots, and by a pond on an Angus beef farm. Many photos record our trek, but only one painting so far, based on a beautiful late-afternoon walk I took on a mown path by the country home of Tom & Jody, who make their northern Ohio property available at no charge (including water and electric hookup) to RVers looking for a place to rest overnight.
“Helena Afternoon,” acrylic on canvas, 38″W x 26″H framed.
