Since my father’s passing last September I can now devote more time to artwork. Track lights were just installed above my easel, so I’m not so dependent on daylight. And now, very pleased that William H. Miller Studios & Fine Art has offered me ongoing gallery space to exhibit. I just hung two of my latest paintings there, “Night Heron” and “Song of the Cypress” (photo). Three cheers for feeling more empowered … and for again feeling more enmeshed in our thriving arts community here.

Tomorrow, Friday, August 2, the monthly First Friday Artwalk in Myrtle Beach, S.C., will be held from 5 to 8 p.m., transforming a section of downtown along Main Street, Broadway St., and 8th Ave. N. into a hub of creativity. The event is free, family-friendly and open to the public. Richard and I plan to hang out at the gallery for a spell in observance. If you can make it, maybe we’ll see you there!
